You’re listening to us during death. Follow us on all good podcast apps or an answering death.com.au. Today you’re not sharing death we’re joined by Ira Israel. Hi, Ira.

Ira Israel

Good morning, bro.

Bryan McCartney

All right, you’re a pretty unique person. You’ve got a unique set of gifts, skills, talents, we’ll call them let’s let’s get right into it. Let’s hear a bit about who IRA is in and what it is you do.

Ira Israel

Well I guess my fortunate gift is I’m able to connect with spirit and guides so right up your alley, you prepare them I speak to them. But yeah, since I was little I was fortunate enough I like to say to be born into a family where my grandma was Queensland’s first female ordained spiritualist minister and a phenomenal psychic medium and my mom her daughter has been a psychic for many years. So I grew up actually being able to see spirit. People call them ghosts angels, what have you. And as much as it scared me, mum, and grandma was next in line being youngest of eight kids. And probably from the age of five onwards, I was allowed to sit in and watch them do trance work. So I’d watch them go into a deep meditative state and 10 minutes later, I’m now looking at a Chinese woman speaking Mandarin. Yeah, well, yeah. So I got to see very early life continued after physical passing. And that made me really pursue, I guess, working on myself and trying to mimic, I guess, my mum and Gran. But there was no book that could be given to me to say, Read this. And you’ll be like us, you had to do a lot of self development, a lot of meditation. And just a lot of reading for anyone and everyone and just to build my confidence. So yeah, I’ve sort of over the years, I guess, harness that. And that’s seen me travel quite a bit around the world and Australia. And here I am with you

Bryan McCartney

pretty, like well known not just here in Australia, but all over the place that you’ve done a lot of media and you’ve done a lot of stuff internationally and domestically. Yeah. How did that sort of happen for you? So

Ira Israel

probably pretty early on when I started getting into the reading. So I said to Mum, how do I get into and she said, well start rate for your dad, see what comes up? Yeah. And if you can read for people, you know, that suspect that’s probably a first test, because you’ve got to pick up on things you don’t know. So it’s a lot harder to read for a friend or a family member or a colleague, because you know, so much. So you really got to tune in to pick up on things you don’t know. And things I just said started to come into fruition and mums, I do want to come with me to say the Gold Coast or out to Roma and things like that and read for my regular clients. And I, of course I said yes, so probably from the age of 10 or 11, she was taking me to the Gold Coast, Roma and I was just reading from some of her regular clients and stuff cut, it started coming into fruition. And then I remember at 14, I was in Hong Kong and read for a woman and I just, I won’t forget it. But I said to her, Look, your marriage is gonna come to an end, I see you moving to America, you know, your kids gonna go there. And yeah, you’ll start your next chapter. And she just laughed it off. And she said, Hi, her, if any of that comes into fruition, I’ll send you over to America, you know, first class and what have you shields from the rich family too. And it all came into fruition. As soon as I finished year 12. The very next day, instead of going to school as I was flowing business cards to San Francisco. And prior to that I was already in New York and Singapore and things like that. Just starting to build up a name mum saw the talent in me and just said, Go, I trust you. Yeah, go into this new age shop. I know the people and just start building your name from there. And I did. And I was just very fortunate, I met some good people that just saw this young kid and saw him you know, really wanting to get into it. And yeah, they just took me under their wing and just sent me people and made sure I was busy with work. And just yeah, it just sort of started to grow from there. And then yeah, probably up until 19. I was Yeah, la New York, San Fran, Singapore, what have you. And then I took a break probably for four to five years, I moved to Melbourne. And I put it all behind me. And yeah, when I got back into it, I thought, Okay, I want to build my name back. And that’s when I just started doing a lot of readings, but I just I started contacting radio stations and they got back to me, just fell in my lap like you if you want to do the work come in. And I’d go in and I’d go on to the big radio stations around Australia and just start building an AI. So yeah, and then from there, you know, you might you’re celebrities. And yeah, just go from there.

Bryan McCartney

So thinking right back to young baby IRA, what does that look like as a 345 year old? You know, is there a particular time or a memory that strikes you like oh, yes, experience?

Ira Israel

Yeah. Oh, yeah. So I was born in Townsville and left probably when I was about two. And I remember just, we came down to Brisbane and I just remember I used to always sleep on top bunk bottom bunk with my brother so he would have the top bunk I was on the bottom and I just remember one night when I was probably three, just hearing a noise and I just sort of sat immediately upright as a kid just in bed. And I just looked straight up the doorframe and there was a girl in like this 18th century pink dress. Just playing a violin just standing there and it just freaked me and as a kid you always I had no idea. But when I used to get scared, you’d pull the blanket over your head and you just take little gas aside. Yeah, just Yeah. And you just like, all of a sudden you can’t breathe. And I remember doing that and, you know, reminding the Dutch courage to have a look and see if she was still there after minutes. Yeah, and she was going I remember that was the first one that same house again, I heard noise and set up right. And there was a Aboriginal man like in war paint and it was just sitting cross legged playing a didgeridoo on the end of my bed, and I just, I was on the top bunk and I just jumped out of bed ran into mum and dad and said, there’s someone in the room and they came in obviously as parents to make sure you know, it’s no unreal. And then they just realise you’re starting to you know, see spirits and then from there like I I remember after my granddad passed, must have been about five or six. And I remember just screaming like just crying and mum comes running in she goes, What’s wrong? I said, Tell granddad to Stop pinching my cheeks. He’s scaring me. And anyway, should go It’s okay. It’s okay. Go back to bed. And again, I’d scream like he’s come back and I remember him just pinching my cheeks and he had passed. Anyway, it was some and what happened is when my brother jumped up to bed, he knocked his electric blanket on Yeah, and because it was summer, it was on full ball and he was really sweating it out like the whole bed was drenched and everything so when granddad came back for a third time mum actually checked on it. And I must have met my might have been the second Yeah, I won’t really call her out. But it might have been the second time anyway. She’s checked on my brother drenched in his own sweat. So I’ve granddad hadn’t come to you know, startle me. I guess my brother would have died of dehydration come morning. So little signs like that. But yeah, I’ve been seeing them for years on and off like even now when I read it’s I think the last time I saw probably, probably it’s been a year when I read now it’s more just apparitions. You can just see the outlay of people you know stuff like moving around, you’ll get the six signals of goosebumps and what have you. But I remember just waking up and I was the guy next to my bed, just like in his 30s bout to go through my bedside draw a week later got robbed, like, just so that was maybe upstairs saying hey, something’s about to happen. You know, I didn’t obviously think about I just thought okay, there’s another spirit and what have you but um, yeah, throughout my years Yes. I’ve seen a lot of them since I was early. But it’s just so natural. It’s like probably been like to say it’s like being brought up a Muslim or Christian or Catholic. I was brought up a spiritualist. You know, I’ve actually seen evidence of spirit life after death. So it’s just something that resonated with me and I pursued Yes, that was my youth but a lot of sports and that toes like I was always sports or reading. Yeah, yeah, that was sort of my youth wasn’t good at school. Wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. I always knew I could. It was like the sports or psychic. And yeah, I sort of always pursued the spiritual work. Yeah. And that’s what you do now. Full time. That’s

Bryan McCartney

your Yeah, full time.

Ira Israel

So 19 I stopped reading I moved to Melbourne just worked in call centres, you know, factories. I never went to TAFE or uni, and hospitality. And then 24 got 2425 I was just like, Yeah, I think it’s time job. I did the partying, you know, played my sport, got it all out of the system, snap the knee. And just thought, Okay, I’ve lived it’s time to get back into it and got back into it seriously. And yeah, probably for the last 13 years, just full time just travelling. But COVID put a stop sort of to that. But I was glad sort of burnt me out a little bit. Yeah, just with all the travels. But yeah, full time. Love it.

Bryan McCartney

And what does that look like for you in terms of spirit constantly connected to 24/7? Today, give me a break today. So

Ira Israel

I think if you think about it, yes, you’re constantly connected. Because in a sense your spirit the way I was sort of taught when I used to watch a lot of trance and that growing up and seeing spirit come through. It’s they sort of look at this world as our classroom. This is where I guess each and every one of us from birth up until our last natural breath go through experiences. And what they like to say is everything you go through learn a lesson about yourself, what are you holding on to what still frustrates you? Where do you need to grow? You know what no longer helps you grow and make choice with that. And the lessons you learn from it become part of your soul. And what they say is ultimately when we take our last breath, we’ll disconnect from our physical body. And we’ll cross over with those lessons. So in a sense, you come here to grow and develop take your last breath go home with those lessons. So they look at it like a classroom. Yeah. But yeah, I just went on a tangent and did

Bryan McCartney

it because like a big big part of what you do now as well, in addition to readings is also sort of teaching right so passing on that knowledge. Yeah, so I guess for

Ira Israel

years obviously, I think like any job you do it long enough and it becomes very repetitive almost yeah, like I love my bread and butter has always been sitting down one on one with someone I’ve always loved that or authenticity. They have it of just connecting with someone, you know, getting to know their story, I guess like you with your work, you know, you’ll receive someone, get them ready for a funeral. And then you get to know about them. Yeah, and you hear their story. And it’s the same with me, I receive someone, I get to speak to them. And I get to know their story. And I’ve always loved that I’ve always, I’ve always been a very social person. But I think after many years of doing it, and 1000s of sitting down 1000s of times over one on one for an hour, every time you start to feel, I don’t know, personally, I start to it starts to take its toll like, it just starts to just drain you a little bit. And I just find the best way now, for me to move forward and still be part of the scene and still be motivated. I want to share what I was taught from my mom and grin. And I want to help people develop their own spirit. You know, like I said, we’re all spirit. It’s just a physical body were in at the moment. But we’re always That’s right. We’re always connected to spirit. And I want people to understand what a message is how to receive messages from Spirit to make best choices for ourselves how to heighten our own gifts. So when we know spirit around when we need to make choices. Yeah, so basically, what I do now is just workshops. And I just want to share that with people. I do live readings. i Yeah. And I just help people find purpose and understand their passions and interest and messages. Yeah. And dealing and helping people read people do like, yeah, we can all do it. It’s just that we haven’t all put in the work to do it. But some people need to understand you might be better at seeing colours. You might be better at numbers or you know astrology or vibration, you might be clear audience or you’re better at hearing you could be a clear sentient, yeah. Some people see a better at seeing visions or hearing names and stuff like that. So it’s sort of just showing people as different avenues to be able to read and to be able to tune in to spirit. Yeah, you’re saying earlier to me just off air. You hear you see, you’ve seen spirit. hear yourself? Yeah. How do you when do you know that they’re around you see them? Or do sometimes just get a feeling yourself?

Bryan McCartney

Yeah, I think for us, so we like physical signs that they sort of pass over to us to let them let us know that they’re around. So footsteps are a big thing. So we hear the footsteps are out in the garage is specifically a mortar in the office. We had our doctor in a few weeks ago, who asked if we had a new person start with us. Why? He’s like, Oh, the guy that was just upstairs and we went with this. You know, just just ask.

Ira Israel

You have cameras at that we do. They can check that. And again,

Bryan McCartney

there’s nothing like yeah, cameras and that sort of stuff. One night I was here by myself was midnight, 1230. In the morning, I just finished a transfer bringing someone into care. And I was doing the paperwork at the desk and the door open between the office and the garage. And I just thought, Oh, well, I didn’t close it properly. And I got up and I closed the door and went back to my desk. And before I sat down the door opened again. And then I was like, okay, whatever. And went back, close the door, gave it a good shake, made sure that it was was closed and then go back to the desk, the door open hours went look not today, I don’t have the time for this, just keep the door closed. I think Jacob who is with us at the moment, it always stays pretty quiet. But he’s had some pretty similar experiences. There’s this particular door downstairs that happens from time to time where the team would just be sitting there. And recently, it just gave this massive rattle and shake. And they thought it was one of the other guys on the other side who was nowhere to be found any of the low end areas. Yes, particularly door.

Ira Israel

And I think the other thing I try and share too, you know. So people ask me, if you’re not seeing them, how do you know that it was, say my grandma or my mom? or what have you if it’s just apparitions, or it’s just a vibration? And you would know to you know, when you’re sensing things, do you sort of feel it’s a masculine energy or a feminine energy? Do you feel like Oh, I’m just close this door and go back inside and get them out of here? Yeah, yeah. You like it? That’s the thing. I think when you read, it’s also like, sometimes people think I’m gay, because it’s all sudden my mannerisms start to get, you know, soft. And you know, my voice starts to get a bit high pitch and I’m like, Oh, your mom’s here. And your mom’s just sit and all of a sudden, I might touch my breasts and how did she have, you know, breast cancer or what have you, and you’ll just start picking up mannerisms and vibrations, but there’s times too, it’s just like, shut that door and let’s get ya back out as a yeah,

Bryan McCartney

there are times for us where if somebody’s had a particularly violent death, yeah. Or if there had been a really angry person in life, you can sense it, we actually see the team change. So over that time that the person didn’t care. You see the differences in the team and their behaviours towards each other or if there’s conflict, which is really unusual for us here. Yeah, so that person brings it in. Yeah, and the second they leave it just dissipates and goes away.

Ira Israel

I was gonna say I was just gonna ask you then to bro but when when you do receive a new body say it is even without knowing them. Do Before on you, and even you, Jacob, do you find you guys can get to a stage now going without judgement? But back You’re an asshole or you would have been a prick of a person that like, does an energy just still linger around with those freshly departed like you can tell. And who was good who was bad or Yeah, so you’re still feeling the energies? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. So first, so if the team starts to hug you, yeah, you’ll say who’s in the building? We just received, ya know, if

Bryan McCartney

we’re in a particularly bad mood, or overly depressed or sad, or whatever it might be, you know, it’s sort of like, well, this might be a baby in the mortuary family, that overwhelming grief, that’s part of that, or, you know, the loss of, you know, the opportunity for life for that babies is a big thing. Yeah. You know, we might see someone who we have homicides that come in and that sort of stuff. So if a person’s death has been particularly violent, you know,

Ira Israel

can I ask you this? If, if there has been a tragic passing to a person you receive a jig? Is there a technique where when you open the bag, you’ll start with the feet and start to make your way out? You just straight away? Look at the face? And yeah, and to this day,

Bryan McCartney

find the person. It’s part of our requirement to identify them and that sort of thing. And I think, you know, especially when you’re going to places like the corners or if you’re going to hospitals were to receive Yeah, these people are so desensitised to what they’re saying. So it’s nothing for a person, especially at one of the Southern corners, like they’ll rip open the bag, they’ll throw it open and you know, you see absolutely everything and you know, that can be really confronting for people, you know, some of the things we see. We never should say, Yeah, we were just we shouldn’t but with funeral directors you’re desensitised now to Well, yeah, we still definitely get affected. Yeah, yeah, still definitely get affected. But look, it’s it’s easier. You know, we certainly have some confronting cases from time to time. Just think, how are we normal?

Ira Israel

And that you still? Do you still speak with everyone you receive? Like, you still treat them like they’re alive? Does that help you get through? Yeah, definitely. Yeah, definitely. Interesting. We both have interesting jobs.

Bryan McCartney

Absolutely. Yeah. So I imagine like you were talking before about it being taxing, you know, on you emotionally and that sort of stuff. So I imagine when people come to you, a lot of the time, it’s because they’ve lost a loved one.

Ira Israel

It’s, look, it’s yeah, it’s a lot of people say, Oh, you must just say the same thing over and over. I’m like, you just don’t know. Everyone to me is a stranger, I sit down. And you know, I’ve got to speak about your life. But if you think about it, a lot of our areas of business, it’s relationships, whether you’re single or with someone, it’s to do with family, your own health travels, things like that, but it’s about picking up but I think the pressure, I sort of I receive a lot of people it’s like you’re you people come to you with fortunate circumstances, you know, they’ve just lost someone and I most people come to me it’s, I get the few where there’s no expectation and they just want to be read by me and just what do I see coming up but a lot of people there because there’s been infidelity behaviour, you know, someone has died, someone is dying, you know, tell me about the wills, what am I going to receive, you know, they’re always getting you to make big choices for them. But unfortunately, with me, I’m not one of those ones that’s going to sit down and say, you know, stay with him or stay with her. I can only give you guidance. You know, at the end of the day, I’ve had clients where I said, Ah, do you just get a text message this way? Did you just see a text message this week with the husband? He’s just cheated on your integration? Yes. I said oh, that’s the third time she was yes. I said if I was your I can still see the behaviour continuing. Yeah, and my guidance would be to have a bit of self worth and continue to move forward. You know, find someone else because you’re very unhappy. And she goes yeah, yeah, you’re right. That’s how I’ve been feeling year later we’ll book back in Ira you know, he’s still Cheney still cheating and at the end of the day, I can’t say stay or go you know, we’ve I think when spirit used to say, this is our classroom, the thing they always said is that you’ve got to make your own choices you know, grow through what you go through in that sense, so I can’t learn someone’s lessons for them and I can’t take away your burdens Yeah, you’ve got to go through what you need to go through. And it’s the same with read I can’t tell you what to do but I can show you I can see what’s going on and if I was you I can help you try to not repeat same lessons but ultimately you’ve got to make the decision so I think it’s more draining because like I say you just deal with a lot of divorce a lot of infidelity a lot of death as well like a lot of people are grieving and want to hear from loved ones and just know they’re okay. Or they’re dealing with I didn’t get to say goodbye because as you know, there’s tragic passings and sudden deaths and things like that so over many years, it sort of builds up yeah and because you want to give your all to you’ve got to stay fresh. I can’t be going out doing five to 10 readings a day in China smash it out. I’ve got a really at the end the day to me three is my number and then for a couple of days, I’ll do a few and a few then I’ll just take a day or two off and yeah, I burnt out a couple of years ago actually. Yeah. So

Bryan McCartney

yeah, well,

Ira Israel

so I was in LA. I was in LA in New York for six weeks, and I was actually meeting up with producers over in LA. So if you had obviously a lot of people have heard of Hollywood medium with Tyler Henry. And I caught up with the executive producers, and we were discussing a TV show for me. And anyway, it went well. And then from there, I had to go do my work in New York, etc. But it was just a weird, it was a weird trip in the sense that usually I do get jetlag. But thing is when you travel, you don’t have time to recover from jetlag, you’ve got to, you’ve got you’re there for work. Yeah. And basically, I was had like the first two days off, and then it was go and caught up with them in LA did my work. Then I went to New York, and a woman I stay with, I call her like, my American mom. Yeah, she’s in her 70s. And beautiful woman lives on her own, and I stay with her. And when I was there, the second day, I was there. Her sister died, and her sister, she had lung cancer she had to have, if you don’t have the operation, you’re gonna die. If you do, you might die. Yeah. And it was one of those ones. They did the operation and she passed on the table. And so I remember the woman I was staying with, she was grieving, but she was. But before we left for America, about two weeks before I left, I had a dream with Tyler. He came into the dream. And it was like an old two story Gold Coast motel, you know, where it’s like a horseshoe shape. Like it’s like a you. And the pool was always in the middle. It was like that. And I remember he looked at me in the dream, and he just started to cry, and I go, what’s wrong? He goes, I just feel sorry for you. You look really worn out. I said, it’s okay. I’ve been doing this years, you know, I’ve just sort of brushed it off in the dream. Anyway, in the next sequence, we’re in the pool, and we’re sort of splashing around with other people. And I go out and he turns to me, and he goes Iran. I said, Yeah, Tyler, he goes, who’s Nancy? said, Nancy. I said, I don’t know. I said, You’re not wrong. Because I know. Sometimes we’ll say who’s such and such. And people go, I don’t know. And then later on, they’ll go, oh, my gosh, it just came to me. So I said, I’ll hold on to it. And I’ll say, and I was it was one of those ones. I woke up from the dream and I typed Nancy under notes in my phone. Yeah. And you know, how it document the time and the day and stuff like that. So anyway, that was there. And I forgot to ask my dad and mom flew to America. Anyway, got to did la got to New York, and the woman’s sister died. What was the woman’s sister’s name? Nancy. Yeah. And I told her about this dream. And she just hugged me. And she goes, thank you. Obviously, that was meant to be my sister was meant to pass you know, that’s just validation. We know your way right? Because her daughter has a wellness retreat. So that’s how I knew the mother. And it just gave verification anyway, so I drove with her to Connecticut to go pick up the ashes from a funeral home and then drove back did my work just still had horrendous jetlag, I got like constipation, a tooth fell out. It was just a bit weird. Anyway, so I landed on. I landed back in Brisbane at nights I think you get the flight back at like 630 in the morning, if you come back from LA, and I got home must have been just at 730. I’m having a shower, and I actually heard a growl and it was enough to just freeze me and I turned off the taps and I quickly got dried. And in that instant, I had numbness up my arms. I had pursed lips and my heart raced at heart rate started to just I was just palpitating. And anyway, I’ve got triple on the final thing. In fact, I’m having a heart attack. Like I’ve burnt myself out of six weeks on the road haven’t slept properly. All this stuff’s happening. And I’m like, yeah, like someone come and I was on my own at home, I’d got dropped off and so I’m there against the couch with the front door unlocked just thinking well, if I die in this moment, these people can get in they can see I’m just there. Yeah,

Bryan McCartney

got clean undies on Yeah.

Ira Israel

Just just so scared to. And not all death, obviously. But it’s just like something’s wrong. You just know your body. Yeah. And it’s very rare that your body plays out throughout life. When it does. It’s like she had something up Yeah. Anyway, so the emos came and they did the blood pressure in that, like, the machines and they’re just like, look, you’re fine. There’s nothing wrong with you. And they go, if it was us would come with us. I’m like, No, I’m okay. Maybe I just need to rest. Anyway, just sat there next day, and that was I couldn’t even drive to Woolworths or Bunnings I was having it ended up being panic attacks and anxiety you know, in that moment. I heard that was talking

Bryan McCartney

it’s the gym next.

Ira Israel

Spirit coming through. Yeah. But yeah, I end up getting panic attacks and anxiety and it just it if I’ve never really understood I’ve never had mental health. Yeah. And I used to say to people, you know, if you’re stressed or you’re suffering from anxiety, change your thoughts, you know, yeah, something on your mind is creating that emotion but obviously mental health can just come and really impact you. And, yeah, so for good. That was just before COVID here, that would have been 2019 End of 2018 19 COVID. That hit which stopped me from Travelling, which was probably a blessing in disguise, yeah. And a lot of the readings I just had to do online, which was good. But I was still doing some in Brisbane in person. And I was getting very nervous before they were coming, which was not like me. Yeah. And I just had to grind through. But in a sense, I spoke to a professional I just said, look, you’ve burnt yourself out. Just start to slow things down. Don’t do your travelling and all that. And it probably took me a good year of just no travelling, not reading as much having to cancel people reschedule and just yet to build my strength back up, and even to this day, clients obviously know, but if I don’t feel 100%, or I feel like I’ve I’m burnt out or overdone. I will reschedule last minute, which is sounds bad, but you’ve got to take care of number one. I look at my mum who’s 73 she’s done this many years. And I think if I’m to do that, I can’t go at the pace I was doing. Yes. So burnout to me was Yeah, anxiety and panic attacks. And probably just Yeah, in the last few months, I’ve just started to feel 100% Again, but I’ve just got to listen to the body now and not sort of push through and make everyone happy. Yeah, yeah,

Bryan McCartney

Welcome back to ushering death where we Ira from eye to eye and we’re now going to start talking about death. Earlier Ira you said that death or being able to communicate with spirit and that sort of stuff it sort of changed your perspective on death and I guess you’ve probably had a bit of a different perspective on death than what an average everyday person is

Ira Israel

very difficult even to this day. I still look at the ones that pass but I still I’ve as you would have I think we’re all going to lose people throughout our journey. I’m youngest of eight so I come from a big family I’ve already lost you know a couple of sisters or my grandparents I’ve lost a lot of friends clients etc. But I always look at it going you lucky bastard you get to go home and I’m still here in this classroom you know in a world where there’s we’re ruled by greed and corruption and you know just every man for themselves it’s just like of course I’m I’m happy when someone passes I think I was always view I always view death as you know it’s you’re holding on to your ego you know in the sense you don’t get to physically touch that person anymore or say goodbye or you know cuddle or kiss them but spiritually if you’re very open to it, and I guess I was blessed I got to see spirit and have confirmation you know, it still continues but if you’ve got that Outlook you’re always in unison I just you know but I lost a sister three weeks ago and I’m constantly in communication with her and I just hear the responses and it comes back so I’m yeah I’m very good I’m very okay with it but yeah death to me it’s natural i My belief is we’ve died you know many times over this isn’t our first journey our vessel will change each life and maybe you know our gender can change being male or female your roles I guess in that sense but yeah death is natural to return home let the only difference is how we pass you know some for some it’s sad and for some it’s painful for some it’s you know tragic what have you but ya know, I’ve always been I’ve always been okay I’m more comfortable with spirit though then deceased bodies you know I find it I find your role tougher than mine You know, I don’t feel I’ve got that that ability or that gift to actually be okay around the physical side the spiritual side I’m very okay with because it’s just it’s my upbringing. Yeah,

Bryan McCartney

I always think about team as superheroes Yeah, like literally in our superpower is that we look after the dead you know, we are such a gift. And we are we’re such like if you think about what we do is like our last role for this person is that we will look after them defend them and care for them. Yeah, until their physical body is gone. Yeah. Or is taken care and

Ira Israel

that’s see that’s a gift in itself. Yeah, like so. And let’s just say everyone’s sort of got got a gift, I guess, obviously mine, I’ve got heightened intuition, you’ve got a gift where you can be at peace with that some people can sing some people are great. You know, litoris Yeah, everyone’s sort of got something. But yeah, that to me is fine. I, and I’ve always been okay with it, because you always I’ve been blessed that you can. I can see them, you know, you’ll, you’ll see signs or you will hear them. Another belief is that spirit will linger after passing for a week or so just to make sure everyone’s okay, before you know, they can really go home. I remember my sister, not the one that just passed another one. I remember when she passed, she must have been about six, five or six. And she was with my brother, actually. And they’ll just out the front of the house. This is going years years back. And the dog ran across the road anyway, without looking she’s just going after it and a truck was coming just when you know she’s Yeah, it’s your time to go and my brother had to let go of the hand otherwise he would have been pulled under. And anyway, it was very sudden and what have you but she was wearing two blue little birdie earrings, which she loved. They were her favourite earrings. And at the scene only one was ever found. They never found the other one. It just was not found. Yeah. And I remember after the funeral, they gave the bluebird hearing obviously to my mum or she she had it anyway. And when she was lying in bed after the funeral, she’s obviously thinking about her daughter and my mom’s very spiritual, like very spiritual. It’s funny, she was actually told in a dream about a week or two before my sister’s passing. Don’t worry about getting gnats books in the late school was about to start in like a week’s time and she still hadn’t got her uniform, her books or paper anything like that. And she was told, you know, nuts not long. Yeah, because my mom is Scottish. It’s like nothing long. Anyway, so the passing happened mum didn’t get any of the stuff like it was just yeah, she was advised this is what’s going to happen. And she was playing with the earring. And she dropped her she was just laying in bed and dropped it so it’s got to be somewhere yeah. Never found it never tossed turn the bed upside down. Pull the everything looked inside out because that was her daughter’s earring. Yeah, yeah. never found it. It’s obviously Natalie’s come back grabbed her earrings and taken them home. Yeah, and do that. Like, you know, you would see here. Things get moved spirit are capable of you know, if you know you put your keys on the table. Why are they now in the bedroom? John? I mean, like it’s they can play with you. You know, you have things here move.

Bryan McCartney

Yeah, absolutely. Like and I can tell you a story actually. So we used to get canvases made for families. And there was this family that I was looking after. And they had a photo of mum and mum used to wear this particular necklace all the time. 98% of her life she had this necklace on and she wore this necklace. It was a favourite thing. But whatever wedding shared was that that they’d taken this photo, she wasn’t wearing a necklace. But it was their favourite photo of mom and they wanted that one on the canvas. And I was like, okay, no worries. So I’ve taken the photo, scanned it, sent it off to the printers got a canvas made. Pull it out of the box at the service, I pop it up on the stand and walk away and the daughter comes over, she’s crying and she’s like, how did you do that? I’m like, do what? She’s like mums, Nicholas. She’s got the necklace on on the canvas. And I was like, No, she doesn’t she didn’t have it on the photo of him because she’s like, Yeah, but come and have a look. So I walk up to the canvas with his daughter. Sure enough, there’s the photo, like there’s the necklace, but I’ve got the photo that I scanned and sent to the printer in my hand. It’s a little looking and it’s not there yet. Mom’s like okay, well, you really want me to wear the necklace. I’ll pop it back on and crazy

Ira Israel

things. They happen. Yeah, and people need to understand, hey, you’re not going crazy. Sometimes some things are unexplainable. To me though. It’s vital. It’s like spirit of coming back and moving things I just want your attention like the amount of times you’ll read for people it’s just you know, photos will move or they’ll smell the cigar going again or an old pipe or you know perfumes and things like that. Yeah, just spirit will just show you know things move. They might knock things off the table and stuff like that. It happens yeah, it happens. I’ve had a couple of

Bryan McCartney

near misses in the car before Yeah, and two that come to mind and immediately before I got the smell of Brut and broke was what dad used to wear Yeah, his smell and I was like, and It distracted me enough to either sort of whatever change my the way I was driving or where I was driving to avoid these pretty would have been bad collisions but I always think to myself or or whenever I smell brute that’s dead. You wake up and you’re ready to join sleeping, sleeping and driving. Don’t do that.

Ira Israel

So it’s driving the hearse. I

Bryan McCartney

know. Sometimes I look on transfers, you know, we might have worked to me personally 12 or 13 hours a day and then you get called out overnight a few times and by that time morning you’re just ready for sleep or a box of your own

Ira Israel

because I wonder how many people drive for him when they see the hearse with the coffin in the hair going. Please don’t get into Car accident.

Ira Israel

I don’t want to rearrange. I think we must all think that like as it happened

Bryan McCartney

three weeks ago, well thankfully there was no coffin onboard. But our first coming back from service was sideswiped by a big fall drive. No way. Yeah,

Ira Israel

I swear, people must think that they would like it not want to rearrange you. Yeah. Have you ever? Have you ever done a service with someone’s knocked over a coffin or, because I remember when I was young, my mum always said I remember it. Sorry. Like, when my granddad passed it Fortunately, he passed me sleep beautiful death. Like, you know, I always say yeah, good. So good, solid, a good way to go. And I remember, he’s, he had an open casket and I thought he was sleeping and my mum was holding me and put me down. But she put me in the coffin. And I said, granddad, wake up, wake up, you know, I didn’t realise he was passed. And I they go grab it. He’s about to knock over the coffin, and I was inside. My granddad sort of tried to wake them up and almost take the coffin open. They had to pick me up. Yeah, they did. And I would have, you know, knocked him out. And I just wonder, like, have you ever had a situation where, you know, pallbearers have dropped it or that their kids have, you know, knocked someone out? Or it’s happened?

Bryan McCartney

Absolutely. Yeah. Things go bad. All the time. You know, like, and I think one in particular, a family will pull bearing a coffin, they’ve provided their own coffin to us. And as they will pull bearing the coffin to the handles fill out so it wasn’t secured properly. It just wasn’t put together properly. And we double checked it. We tested everything. It was all as it should be. But for whatever reason, this guy was not happy with his coffin, and the handles just fell out. You know? And so

Ira Israel

he was dropped. Yeah, coffin dropped the lid come off. No, they escaped.

Bryan McCartney

I had another one where I was the celebrant for funeral service and the family to ask if they could bring the dog. I was like, Yeah, of course you can, you know, like, this guy and his dog best mates forever. And in true form this dog and of this guy. So this Blue Hill has come walking in. He’s gone over, he’s knocked over and he’s over. It’s got a canvas and a picture on it. He’s walked up to the coffin cocked his leg peed all over it. And it’s just like, What is going on and the family were in hysterics? That is so true. Yeah. His nature and to the dog like their relationship. That’s exactly how it would have gone. Yeah. You know, we get to see that sort of stuff. So we just take it with a grain of salt. How

Ira Israel

often with preparation, so say, you know, obvious, I know, I’ve lost a nephew as well in a car accident. He was 24 Brothers married to a mouldy woman, and their tradition is to bring the coffin home for the weekend. So you can lay with them. Yeah. So in regards to that, where a family hasn’t seen a body, how often do you get with your preparation? When people still don’t want to come to terms with someone’s past that they go? No, that’s, I don’t like the look of him or her or, you know, but they just because they’re not accepting does that happen?

Bryan McCartney

They’re often with us. We really Joe Wochenende, a great mortician. So yes, he and her team are incredible at preparing our bodies. Yeah. Sometimes families grief is overwhelming. So we have family. Sometimes they come in for viewing and they’re like, our dad just opened his eyes. He didn’t Yeah. Or he moved his hand or he looked like he was breathing or you know, your brain is a powerful thing. Yeah. And we’re

Ira Israel

proud of the job you’re doing where it makes it. Yeah, that’s right. A person shouldn’t be

Bryan McCartney

look, they should just look like they’re asleep. Yeah. So in the family should have that experience. We have a really unique way of doing viewings. We don’t do viewings in coffins here. So we do them on a bed where it removes the barrier and the fear of a coffin. coffins create a lot of fear for people. Yeah, we remove that from the equation. And it gives people the last moments of intimacy. Yeah, and we don’t mean sexual intimacy. stuff, but just closeness and intimacy. Sit on the bed with the hands. Yeah. Before body hug. Yeah. You know, as kids, especially for our parents when they die like, we can get a lot of comfort by just being able to crawl in and cuddle mom. Yeah, you know, that sort of thing. Yeah, that brings a lot of

Ira Israel

beautiful. That’s beautiful. Yeah. You wouldn’t expect that to be a common practice. But even Hearing that makes me smile is a beautiful thing. I always find even with my nephew right with mouldings when they stay with that body for a couple of days at the start, when I first sort of heard about I thought it’s vinegary, who wants to do that? Most Beautiful send off there is if you get to spend time with someone and just lay there with them and just grieve by the time you’ve done that. You get to a point of acceptance. Yep, you’ve passed I’m at peace with it. Now. Let’s just get you ready for your funeral and your send off and everything’s out of the system. It’s

Bryan McCartney

great. The trauma of death away from the grief process. Yeah. And then people have the freedom to grieve. Yeah, I

Ira Israel

would encourage people you know, to have that that time like funerals, you can just rock up people give a speech, you know, they do the eulogies and what have you, it’s great. It can be a celebration, whatever, but you don’t get that time with them if you close but, you know, to to be able to lay with someone in a bed or to spend that extra time I’d say it’s a really good way to get up. last goodbyes and your thank you is and yeah, you know all your emotions. Yeah

Bryan McCartney

really fortunate we look after a lot of multicultural services. Yeah, indigenous people and someone and Maori and all sorts of different cultural practices. Yeah. And we’re lucky to see that and I think it really changes our perspective of death and grief and that whole journey as well, because it reminds us that, you know, our western way of grieving is not great.

Ira Israel

No, I was gonna say some of the best readings I do are with multicultural people that have that open mindedness spirituality, you know, and that really comes through with readings and if I do mediumship because they’re very open and accepting to it a lot of like you say, Westerners and that it’s it’s very plain it’s a bit tunnel vision very sometimes close minded cookie cutter Yeah, it’s you can you can feel the difference in readings and that when you when you’ve got someone of indigenous background or multicultural you know, it’s just a friendlier read it’s more diverse it’s more you know, medium ship what have you and then you just get and nothing against it. But you’ll you’ll get you know, your Westerners or your Aziz or Americans, whatever, just just want to know about business just, it’s just very whatever it

Bryan McCartney

may

Ira Israel

be bland, it’s very bland. And that’s, I think, to win death, you know, it is a celebration for the multicoloured rolls. Yeah, like it, they’re open to gay we’re gonna pass but the belief is and I’ve seen it life continues, its life continues. And that’s dying back early. That’s how I’m able to accept death. You know, it’s to me, it’s a tragedy. It’s, it’s, it’s unfortunate if you go in a tragic way, but it’s also I’m very happy for you that you’re home. It’s just more about communicating. Are you okay? Because when I used to sit in trance and watch spirit come through, and for your listeners, the best way to understand trance is get the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg and watch that because in the movie, Patrick Swayze will jump into Whoopi Goldberg, who’s the psychic and she will relay the message to Demi Moore. And that’s what it was. For me growing up. I used to see it every Sunday would sit with all the lights off in the lounge room. Mum and Graham would go into trance we’d have detectors and politicians come you’ve got a little red light bulb, like coffee table light. So it’s a black room with this red glow. And you’re what It’s eerie like as a kid you’re watching about to happen here. And you go into a trance. And next thing you’re looking at an Arab man speaking Arabic or whatever, it’s all dictaphone two people go well, how do you know you know, they’ll speak in a language like, well, because it all gets written out and they speak in foreign languages. It doesn’t matter what but spirit can interpret into English. And yeah, they used to say look, when you pass your you’ll be received there is a lot your you know, your crossover into it. You’ll have loved ones there to welcome you. And you I don’t know if you would but if I don’t know, do you ever get called in early and just before someone passes? Like, are you ever there just before someone passes? Or you’re always there after always after? You would hear the old? You would hear people go lucid. So before death, they might start speaking to their mother who died 80 years ago or whatever. Yeah, but in a sense spirit of coming to collect you. Yeah. And that’s what spirits say like you’re, you know, people aren’t going insane or lucid. They’re starting to see their deceased family members because they know you’re about to pass that they had to collect you make the process easier, come back home with us. And it was always taught to me by spirit. And that Yeah, your crossover you receive, but you’re to go to rest. Now. The thing is time they say doesn’t exist in the afterlife. Yeah, that’s a man made thing. And that’s like saying, best way to understand that is if you’re in a dream, and you’re here with me, and we’re having the dream of doing a podcast, but in the next sequence, you see yourself in Vancouver or something, you just there. Yeah, and that’s how you travel. It’s just by thought you’re there. So time doesn’t you know exists, but they say they rest your soul. So if you’ve died of a lung cancer battle, you’ll be received and they just rest you. Yeah, it’s a period of rest. And you can’t say how long it is. It could just for us it could be days or weeks or whatever you just don’t know. But during that rest your spirit recovers from being in this physical world. And you’re telepathically almost you just showing how the afterlife works again, what your roles were, you know, you catch up with all your friends from previous lives, etc. And then you’re liberated you’re free to you know, get going and what have you. So, that always made me very happy. Yeah, just to go. Okay. I know when my time comes, you know, I’m going to reconnect with everyone. I’m going to go home and I’m at peace so when someone passes, that’s why I go You’re lucky bugger. Gentlemen, you’re already home again. You’re seeing all your loved ones you’re free from this, you know, physical world and everything that comes with it and you’re liberated and love and light. Yeah. The only thing I want to say and this will be controversial. Is that when I say you, this is all classroom, just live to your last natural breath. Yeah, you would see a lot of suicide here. So, but I’m gonna say it like, at the end of the day, you’ve got lessons too. Learn up until your last natural breath. Yes. So whether you think no one loves you, the world’s tough or whatever, you know, you might get to 18 Go. I thought no one loved me. But here’s the couple of mates standing at my bed and I was loved. Yeah. Or I was stronger than what I thought I got through to my last natural breath, what have you. And because what spirit is to tell me is that if you shorten your life, because you think it’s tough, or you can’t do it, say at 40, but you were meant to live to 60, you’ll come back and live out those 20 years. Yeah, there’s it because you’ve got to learn your lessons. Yeah. So I just want to say to people when, you know, that might be rushing, okay, there’s a life after death. Yeah, yes. But live out your natural journey. Yeah. Don’t shorten it, you know, live to your last natural breath, whether that’s meant to be to 6070 ad. If you’re finding life tufts, seek, you know, help practitioners change your thoughts work on your mindfulness, etc. Yeah, just don’t try and do your best not to shorten it. Yeah. There’s always something to learn till the end. Yeah, we hear

Bryan McCartney

that term sort of concept of you know, there’s multiple exits in life. Yeah, you know, people can either that’s your exit or you keep going. Is that a thing? Do you think? Or?

Ira Israel

Look, even having this conversation? I don’t know everything I need to know. So it would be speculation. Yeah, like I can only like I say to people, I’m don’t I’m never I don’t go into a reading there to preach or change religious views. I go to share what I was fortunate enough to say for myself, but I’d still be speculating about a lot. Like if someone said to you, they know what happens, I put, letting you know, the gesture of holding it, you know, you didn’t having a weight, like, you know, at the end of the day bullshit. No one knows everything. Not until you sort of pass and it all comes back to you. Yeah, there’s people with knowledge and insight that is correct. But you know, if anyone’s calling themselves a guru, or you know, they know it all, I’d be very suspicious of it. So to say there’s different exits. I just like to look at the fundamental and just say, look, at the end of the day, we’re all going to pass have something or somehow, you know, there is a life after death. There’s also different levels, though, and I look at them as spiritual plane. So some people might look at it as hell, heaven, earth, whatever. Yeah, but there’s lower entities, you know, which could be mischievous. We look at them as Mr. First. I don’t like to say demonic but demonic Mr. First, unwanted sort of spirits. Yeah, so you got lower playing entities. And then you’ve got people that are still developing, that’s why they might still feel it’s okay to kill someone, stab someone, you know, do them over and that they’ve got lessons to learn. That’s why we come into this classroom. No, it’s not good. But you’re doing that you’ll be on a lower level if you can get through life. And the point is that it’s sort of like, you’re here for your personal development. So the best way to get through a journey is, you know, try and help others just be your best self have love, try and have no judgement, you know, anything like that, and just develop your spirit. And then you’ll start going to different planes. And the whole point is getting to a point where you don’t need to keep reincarnating why that is? I don’t know, I’d speculate again, there too. I do know there’s different levels, because I was taught that through spice spirit through trans. But yeah, the whole reason behind it all. I couldn’t again, I’d speculate there’s so much more I can’t even fathom John. I mean, and that’s why I say for someone to say no, I’d be very suspicious of it. Yeah. Because there’s it’s it’s, it’s yeah, it’s we we just can’t fathom it. Yeah, we can’t fathom it. But different levels. There’s there’s different ways to pass obviously. And, you know, that’s why some people you know, they might die in their teenage years or 20s. It could have been from a previous life live that they might have cut short can live out years now you can go home. And you’ve just got to keep an open mind to that. And that’s it’s the same with life like you might be in a relationship where you you might be cheated on someone might be in Fidelis, you know, screw you over water and what have you, but who’s to say you didn’t do that in your previous life and screw someone over else over? You didn’t cheat on your partner Karma comes back this life or the next year? And you know what’s wrong? And you just know not to repeat it, but sometimes we all look at ourselves like angels. But the reason things can happen to us is because we’ve probably done that in a previous life. Yeah. And it needed to come back and be served. Yeah. So my sort of view is like, yeah, things will happen. karmically to help us grow nothing comes by accident. Yeah, yes, you’re gonna pass there’s going to be different ways there’s no right or wrong to how you pass the good thing is you’ll cross over there’ll be loved ones it all come back how it all works and off you go. Yeah, yeah.
